Woohoo!!!

June 11th, 2008

Welp, my Dad and I went down to the DPS office today so I could take the test for me to receive my instructional permit, and………I got it!!

Even better, I got a 100% on the exam. So now I can legally drive, and I have 32 more hours to do before I can start into the “Graduated Driver License Program.”

Fun, fun, fun!

OSx86 Resources

May 29th, 2008

Ok, so in my previous post about trying out OSx86, and how it wasn’t booting anymore I failed to mention some of the resources.

For my semi-failed install of 10.4.8 I used this article on the OSx86 Project Wiki to get myself started.

For my hopefully non-failing install of 10.5.1 I’m using this blog post from distinctlyjordan.com.

Also, I found the torrents for the ISOs using mininova.org and isohunt.com, respectively.

And a little side note: I have come to the conclusion that the reson that I couldn’t get my first install to boot is because I didn’t change the Bootloader from GUID to MBR… DON’T FORGET TO CHANGE THAT!!!

Another project!!

May 28th, 2008

Ok, so not really another project per-say, but something to do anyways.

I just recently came across the OSx86 Project, and have been very intrigued by what it really is. Using a flaw in EFI or something, people have come up with ‘hacked’ Mac OSX DVD ISOs that allow you to install real Mac OSX 10.x.x on your Intel or AMD based x86 computer.

Because I’m borrowing a Canon GL2 from my church this week, I decided to record the whole installation process. I would be working on editing the footage right now, except for the fact that I can’t get OSX to boot anymore… So, I’m getting another ISO which supposedly has a Patch that is needed for proper booting.

I really hope it works!!! (And, yes, I’ll record the second attempt, it will be posted on Vimeo)

Update: I’m gonna go all-out and Try installing OSX 10.5 this time instead of 10.4.8! (But I have to get the ISOs first)

Finally finishing a project!

May 26th, 2008

I’m soo happy! I now have 3/4 of the parts I need to make my own Homebrew Air Conditioner. I first got the idea while browsing instructables, which lead me to the site of the original creator.

At this moment I only need a few more parts (two major ones), but what I have is this:

  • Fountain Pump (Harbor Freight, On Sale $10.00)
  • Poly(ethelene) tubing (Lowes, $0.28/foot, 10 feet (just in case), $2.80)
  • Fan (Old one, already had it, $0.00)
  • Switching Mechanism, to turn on fan & pump at the same time (Made it a long time ago, I don’t remember the cost)

What I still need is this:

  • Copper tubing (Lowes/Home Depot (whichever is cheaper), 15 feet, approx. $30)
  • Various Fittings to get 1/2″ Poly down to 1/4″ copper (Lowes/Home Depot, no clue what they are gonna cost)
  • Styrofoam Ice Chest (probably HEBs, no clue what they cost)

Also, once school lets out this Thursday, I’ll start to have a lot more time to work on various other projects such as:

  • The program I’m doing (still a secret)
  • My After Effects Tutorial Series (working on the introduction)
  • New video podcast (!!)

The projects will probably be completed in that order also.

New project

April 26th, 2008

So, recently I’ve been having a lot of fun making lower-thirds using After Effects but I decided I’d take it a step further.

I’m now starting to work on a tutorial ’series’ and I just finished the intro for it, which you can see below.

Go to http://www.vimeo.com/945056 to see this video in it’s full HD glory.

I am now making a different ‘more involved’ introduction and it should be done within a couple of weeks.
